Notice-Window Calculator
The renewal date is not the date that decides the money. The notice deadline is, and the last safe day to act comes before that. Enter the renewal date and the notice period from the agreement and get both, with a reminder you can put in a calendar.
Questions
What is a notice window in a contract?
The period before a renewal date during which you must tell the vendor, usually in writing, that you will not renew. A 60-day window on a January 1 renewal means notice must arrive by November 2. Miss it and most agreements renew for another full term.
Why is the last safe day earlier than the notice deadline?
Because notice has to be written, signed and delivered the way the contract specifies, and that takes time. The calculator puts the last safe day 7 days before the deadline — the same buffer Sidecar applies to every agreement it watches.
Does email count as written notice?
Only if the contract says so. Many agreements require notice by certified mail or to a named address, and some measure the window from receipt, not sending. Read the notices clause before you rely on an email.
What if I don't know the renewal date?
Use the auto-renewal deadline checker instead: it works from the signing date, the term and the notice period, and rolls the agreement forward to its next renewal.
